This heritage home was built in 1938 and renovated in the 1980’s. In 2010, when the property was on the verge of demolition, MAEK was commissioned to reconstruct and significantly extend the
home. One challenge was the in-situ replacement of the second story. We used extensive propping and sophisticated techniques to undertake this delicate operation.
Half way through the project, the client asked us to add a further 900m2 to the building. And then came the instruction to remove several load-bearing walls in the huge kitchen area. And so we did. All within 18 months.
