MAEK is looking for an experienced Architectural Designer to join our growing team.

We are an integrated Design-Build-Interiors firm creating considered, architecturally led homes for clients who value quality, individuality and exceptional design. Our projects are bespoke and highly detailed, with a strong focus on design from the initial concept through to construction and completion. Our integrated approach gives our team the opportunity to be involved in every stage of the process, seeing ideas evolve into beautifully resolved homes.

For this position, we’re looking for someone with at least 5 years of experience in a similar role, who is confident across architectural design, documentation, 3D modelling, visualisation and interiors.

What the role will look like.

Under the direction of the Creative Director, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day progression of projects across design, documentation and delivery.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Taking projects from initial concept through design development, approvals, documentation and construction

• Contributing to architectural material selections, detailing and design development

• Coordinating with the drafting team to produce detailed architectural drawings and documentation as needed across various stages of the project

• Developing detailed 3D models in SketchUp

• Producing architectural renders and visualisations using Enscape

• Developing interior design concepts, layouts & selections

• Producing finishes, fixtures, fittings and material schedules

• Preparing presentation material for client meetings

• Managing day-to-day client communication and maintaining strong client relationships

• Coordinating with consultants & suppliers as required

• Working closely with the on-site construction team to ensure design intent is maintained throughout the build and all details are captured

• Resolving design and documentation issues as they arise

• Maintaining a high standard of design quality and documentation across all projects

What we’re seeking:

We’re looking for a capable and experienced architectural designer who can confidently take ownership of projects while working collaboratively under the direction of the Creative Director. You'll be comfortable moving between architecture, interiors, 3D modelling and client management, and you'll have the judgement and initiative to know when to take ownership and when to seek direction.

You will have:

• Minimum 5 years experience in a similar architectural design or residential design role

• A university degree in Architecture or Interior Architecture

• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD - must have the ability to produce detailed architectural drawings and documentation if required

• Strong proficiency in SketchUp

• Proficiency in Enscape to produce 3D imagery (not essential - can be taught if required)

• Experience in interior design and material selections

• A strong understanding of residential design, construction and detailing

• Experience taking projects from concept through to construction documentation

• The ability to confidently communicate with clients and manage day-to-day client relationships

• Strong project management and organisational skills

• Excellent attention to detail and a high level of pride in your work

• The ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• A genuine passion for architecture, interiors, materials and high quality design
